Enduring Power of Attorney Deadline Looms

After the 1st of October 2007 you will no longer be able to make an Enduring Power of Attorney but will have to use the new Lasting Power of Attorney.

Most advisers recommend that you make an Enduring Power of Attorney BEFORE the cut off date to avoid the new complicated rules and procedures.

Top 5 Excuses For NOT Making a Will and What To Do About It

Everybody knows it is important to make a Will, but most people put off making one of their own for a variety of reasons.

The directors of Will Drafters Ltd, David Crossland and Michelle Hanover, are now urging everyone to make a Will. So now, with a little tongue in cheek, we give you the Top 5 Excuses For NOT Making a Will:

Excuse 1: “I’ve just been much too busy to think about it”

Comment: Why not talk with Will Drafters by telephone. They could even take your Will instruction over the phone and, they tell us, it may take less than 30 minutes of your time.

Excuse 2: “I can’t make up my mind what I want to put in it”

Comment: If you don’t the government will decide for you, if that’s what you want. Make a Will now, you can always change it again later.

Excuse 3: “My husband just doesn’t want to talk about it”

Comment: What about you? You need one too!

Excuse 4: “We can’t agree about who we want as guardians”

Comment: A decision is better than no decision! Why not have your choice in your Will and his choice in his Will?

Excuse 5: “We’re thinking about moving house”

Comment: So! What’s the delay? It would be even harder if something happened to one of you while the move was imminent.

No one likes to think about what happens when they die. But if we don’t, our families could suffer. Delays, hardship and worry are not the ideal legacy for a family in mourning.

Will Drafters offer a convenient Wills-by-phone service and have written over 90,000 Wills since the two directors founded it in 1990.

Will Writers

Although I would recommend that you Make your Will Online I understand that not everyone is comfortable with this.

That leaves three other options:-
  1. Use a Home Will Writing Service. This is where a qualified will-writer will visit you in the comfort of your own home, take your will instructions and then prepare your will for you for delivery later. If you would like a qualified local will-writer to contact you you can complete a short form here. You are under NO obligation to proceed by making the request.

  2. Use a solicitor. This is costly and in 99% of cases quite unnecessary.

  3. Make a DIY Will either from scratch or using one of the many DIY Will Forms available on the internet.
I would urge you NOT to use the DIY method. "Free" or DIY Wills at best are likely to cost your beneficiaries far more than it saves you and at worst it could well make your will invalid unless you know exactly what you are doing.

For the sake of £29 you can make a fully solicitor checked Will Online HERE - with free updates and printable immediately - a far better option than trying to "do it yourself" from scratch.
